Guro Cyndy Jones began training in Kali under Guro Kevin Seaman of Cortland, New York in 1991. After successfully passing the Level I and Level II Filipino Martial Arts tests, Guro Jones was awarded a Provisional Teaching Certificate in 1994 by Guro Seaman and given permission to start a program in the Rochester, New York area. Since then Guro Jones has been teaching Kali at the Gillam Grant Community Center in Bergen, N.Y., the Collamer-Jones Dojo in Byron N.Y. and at Kodak Park in Rochester, N.Y. Guro Jones has continued her training with Guro Seaman in Cortland as well as bringing him to the Rochester area for training seminars. Guro Jones also trains in Muay Thai and Jun Fan with Guro Seaman and attends Master Teacher Guro Dan Inosanto's Cortland Seminars regularly.

Guro Jones, Dave Riedel and Annette Cappon attended Guro Dan Inosanto's seminar in Cortland on September 10, 2000. Guro Inosanto was personally chosen by Bruce Lee to carry on the techniques and philosophy of Jeet Kun Do. The three enjoyed and benefitted from the training in Jun Fan, Kali and Shoot Wrestling. The seminar was hosted by Sifu Kevin Seaman at his East West Martial Arts Academy. Sifu Seaman will do a seminar at Gillam Grant Center for our school on November 19th. Save the date.

Dave Riedel was the first of Guro Jones students to take the Level IV Kali test. To date, nine of Guro Jones students have passed the Level III Kali test. They are; Dave Riedel, John Dorr, Tom Brust, Jerry Ciriello, Drew Guest, Luke Stutzman, Rick Hawley, Skip Wolcott, and Jim Kunkel. Jerry Ciriello and John Dorr passed the Level IV Apprentice Instructors test in February, 2005 (see Kali Instructors Section).
