WINNER TAKES ALL? Alan Tang produced and starred in this film in 1984. In Winner Takes All?, Alan Tang really does it all: drama, comedy, Kung Fu, gun fighting and romance, of course. The Cast: Alan Tang Kwong Wing Stanley Fung Olivia Cheng Cheung Gok Chue The Director Siu Wing The Producer Alan Tang Kwong Wing The Scriptwriter Siu Yau Yuen The Story Alan Tang returns home to find that his brother has been double-crossed and killed by some triads who then try to kill him. Tang fights them off in a good action sequence. He escapes by running up a stairway and forcing his way into the heroine's (Olivia Cheng) apartment to hide. In the process Tang briefly holds Cheng captive and they have several pleasant, funny, comic interactions as she tries to escape his "imagined" advances. Tang leaves her unscathed, however, except for taking her sweater to cover a cut on his arm. It turns out our heroine is a dance instructor who has Stanley Fung's young daughter in her class. Tang returns the cleaned sweater to Cheng and in the process meets Fung and his daughter. Tang asks the heroine out and they become friends. In the meantime Tang continues to look for his brother's killers. These same gangters rob the jewelry store Fung owns, kidnap and kill his daughter. Tang and Fung then join forces to do in the bad guys. Again there are several comedy scenes between these two as Tang tries to teach Fung how to shoot and fight. The plot in Winner Takes All? contains several interesting and surprising twists which you can find out for yourself. The action sequences are great throughout the movie and especially in the end. The funny in-bed romantic scene is great, especially when Tang tries to convince his girlfriend she is his FIRST. His rationalization is a scream! I will tell you this, she didn't buy it. |
