Chen Chen's parents are very strict and do not want her going to clubs. They are totally against her relationship with Tang as they disapprove of her seeing a singer. Chen Chen and Tang continue to see each other but try to keep it a secret. In addition, Tang's mother tells Chen Chen that Tang has inheriteded a fatal family illness and that she should not get attached to him. Also, that her husband, Tang's stepfather, disapproves of Tang also because he is a singer.

In spite of everything, the pair fall deeply in love and continue to see each other. When Chen Chen's parents discover this, they beat her and her father attacks and blinds Tang.

Despite Tang's blindness, Chen Chen stays with him. Tang's mother helps the pair set up house keeping, they marry and Chen Chen becomes pregnant. Tang's mother leaves the evil step father and moves in with them. The trio is very short of money.

Chen Chen's friend played by Lydia Sun steps in to help by arranging for Tang to resume his singing career. Tang resists as he does not want people to know of his blindness. Chen Chen convinces him to be brave and resume his career for the sake of their unborn child.
