Love is Like a Game (Eternal Love)

Alan Tang starred with Chen Chen in the movie Love is Like a Game (also called Eternal Love) in 1976. The movie is a comedy featuring Tang as a motorcycle riding, girl chasing, lover boy who is cheating on his girlfriend played by Chen Chen. The Story

Alan Tang and Chen Chen play two lovers who were engaged at a young age. Tang is not ready to settle down and tells Chen Chen that he is going away to study and will send her pictures every week. Instead of studying, he drives around on his motorcycle flirting and picking up girls. In addition, he has his girlfriends take the pictures which he sends back to Chen Chen.

Tang's infidelity is discovered when Chen Chen closely examines the pictures and discovers evidence of the other ladies. She confronts Tang's sister, who is her good friend, and learns that Tang is visiting their older brother in the mountains. She drives off to confront him.

In the meantime, Tang has met a nice quiet girl played by Chang Li Ren and has decided to court her. He takes her on his motorcycle to the brother's place in the mountains. Tang introduces her to his brother, played by Chiang Ming, but the visit is cut short by the arrival of Chen Chen. At Tang's urging, the brother and Chang climb down a rope ladder and hide to avoid meeting up with Chen Chen. They enjoy talking to each other and strike up a friendship.

Tang and Chen Chen confront each other and try to work things out. At one point Chen Chen slaps Tang across the face and walks out. She and her pack of girlfriends spy on him and follow him around. In addition, Chen Chen arranges a meeting with Chang Li Ren, the quiet girl, and tries to convince her that Tang is not suitable for her and that she could do better.

Chang decides that Chen Chen is more suitable for Tang and that she prefers the brother. She meets Tang in a coffee shop to tell him this. Chen Chen and her pack of girls arrive and, misunderstanding Chang's purpose, attack her. Interestingly, "big action hero" Tang is overcome by several of the girls and locked in the ladies bathroom. In the melee Chang is injured and taken to a hospital.

WARNING CONCLUSION: Tang escapes from the ladies room and goes to the hospital to check on Chang. There he is dismayed to find her with his brother. The brother offers to leave and Tang is confused. Tang reexamines his feelings and discovers he really loves Chen Chen. The two marry and invite the brother and Chang to the wedding. They come and look to be a happy pair. The happy wedding party ends up in the swimming pool.
